Cycling Team - Around Ireland challenge

Age: 31yrs

Previous cycling experience

Hmmm.  Started off riding to my Granny's house now and again.  I can remember shamelessly begging for a lift home one day from my dad, who had to pick me up.  Because it was "too windy to ride home".  So as long as its not windy in Ireland, I should be ok, right? I've never entered a bike race in my life.  And I don't ride with a club or anything.  I did however ride as a courier with Orbital Couriers in Cardiff for a while.  Good fun, and never a day without a near-miss.  Top speed attained - 47.5mph, hanging on to the back of a Rentokil truck.  Now that gives me an idea for Ireland...

Aside from that, I've ridden the odd week here and there in Scotland, Wales, Lesotho, Malawi, and South Africa.  Most recently on my Thorn Nomad steel-framed expedition tourer, which I've also been using for, erm, training.  When I get round to it

Current job

I've never done a job that wasn't a hobby first.  Jobs so far have included scuba diving, absailing / climbing, doing naughty stuff for Greenpeace, and working as a Doctor (current job, and yes, it kind of was a hobby first - but that's another story).

Career aspirations

To be suspended indefinitely, on full pay.  To work rarely, and for good money.  To get paid to have adventures.  To get paid to get, occasionally at least, a bit cold scared.

Hopes for Ireland:

Hope I make it.  Hope I don't crash out really badly.  Hope I don't die / start vomiting through tiredness.

Fears:

Getting some awful hideous pain in my soft bits after the first few hours that doesn't leave me throughout the event.
